Black Coffee has shared a few snaps of his experiences in the US, while most were good, others, not so much.
Nkosinathi
‘Black Coffee’ Maphumulo may be living his best life in the US, but not
according to a homeless man, who was not impressed with him after he
failed to give him a dollar.
Black
Coffee decided to take a stroll on the streets of San Fransisco and came
across a homeless man, who reminded him where the poor black men in the
area belonged.
He
said: “So as I’m walking up here, I see this guy. He’s a bum, really,
that’s what I’m gon’ call him. You know these people who live on the
streets. Not everyone who lives on the street is a bum, but this guy,
he’s a bum. He asked me for a dollar and I tell him I don’t have it. He
says: ‘What the f*ck are you doing here then if you don’t have a
dollar?’ I ask him what do you mean. He says: ‘What are you doing up
here? You’re not supposed to be up here, you’re black.’ He’s a bum.”
While
in California, Black Coffee visited Facebook’s headquarters and
appeared on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and, among other things,
told the comedian the secret to his success.
He
said: “Resilience, knowing hunger, knowing you’ve experienced it and
don’t want to go back to it. That’s what has kept me and gotten me to
where I am today.”
He further called Noah a beacon of light.
“He’s
done a lot for us, man. Trevor is a beacon of light, shines on the
continent. The world today can see us because of that light,” he said.
